Baby Wants

When I had my first I got spoiled rotten with showers galore. I had gadgets and gizmos a plenty, if you know what I mean. So in a lot of ways I feel pretty set on that front such as: car seat, stroller, swing, boppy, bumbo, diaper genie and of course a hooter hider... you know the kind of stuff that has a new mom speaking a foreign language and thinking, "Does one 6 pound human really require all this shit?" Now that it's my second time around I can toss my head back with laughter and say, "Yes, you're going to need all that shit sweetie."
Anyway, for today I've compiled a list of baby wants, not so much needs.

Like this owl bank from Etsy. Perfect for the shelf I'm putting above his changing table.
And how cute is this handmade mobile from etsy? So sweet.
And what about these loafers for my little gentleman?
And these onsies kill me!
These swaddle blankets make me swoon.

A rug, a bumper and painted walls. It's progress! A big thanks to my mother in law for painting!

What About The Second Child?

I’m feeling a little guilty and the question of, “What about the second child?” Has permeated my mind for last few weeks, yet sadly I’ve done little to rectify my guilt.
When I was pregnant with Milly I was the most prepared women you had ever seen. While, I’ll admit the many showers thrown by family and friends got me ahead of the game there were plenty of actions on my part which left me as equipped for our new arrival as possible.
I was enrolled in a birthing class. I had the major stuff purchased, stroller, car seat and crib by the time I was five months along.  Her room was completely done long before her arrival, the only detail left, the baby.
This time, sad to say, I’m feeling more unprepared than ever. His room is one big mess and every time I peek in there I can’t bring myself to do anything more than shut the door and pretend one day I will have energy to tackle it.
The other day I attempted a little pinterest craft for his room. It turned out looking like shit leaving me all the more discouraged. Reminding me, this is what happens when I try to DIY.
I’m hesitating on the idea of transferring Milly into a big bed meaning no crib is available for our new baby. I’ve told myself I’ll play it by ear. The truth is I’ve never ever been able to play anything by ear and flying by the seat of my pants? Well, let’s just say I hardly know the meaning of such terms. I’ve always combated my amount of anxiety with an exuberant amount of preparedness, and while sometimes it seems a little unpractical or unnecessary, I would argue it’s, either this or medication.
I just want to be able to sit in his perfectly decorated nursery, with a closet lined with clothes in order from newborn to 12 months, stocked with diapers burp clothes and rock back and forth in a comfortable gliding chair, perfect for nursing and breathe in and out a few times before I actually have to take care of another human being. Is that too much to ask?

New baby: Excitement...and worry.

Cute little boy shoes from Etsy
Last week I had a short burst of energy and decided to tackle my office closet. It’s a task that has topped my to-do list for the past few weeks. Seeing as our new arrival will be moving us out of our office. As I cleared out the closet and put our stuff in boxes I was reminded of how babies require us to rearrange and adjust our lives.

Ideas for baby boy room

This for bedding. I have a white crib. Can't decide between the gray and navy?
This decal for over the crib.

Thoughts on Having a Boy

Coming away from the ultra sound after hearing, “Everything looks great.” has to be one of life’s greatest miracles.

When I was pregnant with Milly I really had no thoughts about what flavor we would be having.

Though, this time I was under the influence of my two year old daughter, who had for weeks, told us she was having a “siser.” Each time we would ask her, no matter how we would ask her, her reply was quick and consistent, “siser.”

Your advice please?

So... I need your opinion. I'm thinking of purchasing a jogging stroller but wanted to know.
Do they really make that big of a difference? What brand/style do you have?
I've been using the standard four wheel stroller because of course the little miss still still has to be in the carseat that hooks to it and it works ok... but could it be better?
Thanks!

Thoughts on Motherhood

My Milly is 5 weeks now and I feel like I'm just getting my feet on the ground. These little ones can really turn your world upside down. When your nights become days and your days stay days it can leave you feeling well a little psychotic. Really and truly I read that sleep deprivation can cause psychosis. In my case this is true I now hear crying that simply is not there. I'll get out of bed go to Milly's crib only to find my baby sound asleep. When I lay my head down the cries come back and I try to tell the crying to stop so I can fall asleep... you know who else hears voices people at Bell View.
Needless to say I'm left wishing diet coke was a health drink.
After reading "Baby Wise" I'm realizing I'm a "Baby Idiot."
I wish I could be more like Milly that way I could stick a binki in my mouth and all my troubles would go away.
Losing weight is a joke.
Breastfeeding is the craziest most amazing thing I have ever done.
Before getting dressed for the day I have to think "How fast can I get my boobs out of this shirt?" Come to think of it if I would have thought this way in college I could have had a lot more dates. The whole exposing myself every 2-3 hours would not have hurt either.
Tasks that were once considered simple should be recognized with some kind of medal after you have a baby, such as: Showering, doing my hair and getting out of the house.
Dealing with hospital bills and insurance companies right after having a baby is the worlds way of slapping every new parent in the face.
A baby's cry is more horrific than nails on a chalkboard.
When I watch Mason and Milly together I think oh my goodness I can't believe I have a family all of my own!
We LOVE our little miss Milly!

Loving....

I am simply loving my diaper genie without it I would have to emty a stinky garbage several times a day. I am a bit curious as to why they call it a genie though? Yes it may be a commom wish among parents to have no more stinky diapers but don't I get two more wishes??? So this morning I rubbed this little poop pale hoping a genie would appear.... nothing yet but if a genie shows up I'll be wishing for more than three hours of sleep in a row, and for Mason's chest to swell with milk to the size of grapefruits... which would grant me an additional wish.... a really good laugh!
