Their Rooms

It's wierd to think in a matter of days I'm going to be saying things like "The kids." I'm going plural ya'all. Anyway, my mom came up and helped me with the Kid's Rooms over the weekend. I'm feeling more and more ready for this little guy to get here.
This ended up being a simple project. We traced and cut these images from scrapbook paper. The pictures I took are crappy, but I'm in love with how they turned out.
Trying to finish the nursery made me finally order something for Milly's blank wall. I got this tree branch from Etsy for Milly's room. I think it turned out quite cute.

Adding a little Color

Before...

After...

This little table had been screaming at me to paint it some color, any color. I finally succumbed to it's plea. I'm liking it a lot better.

DIY: Fabric Covered Boxes

Above my front door there is a large empty space that had been begging for a little color. I've done fabric covered canvases and thought maybe I could pull off the same look if I cut up my big Home depot boxes that were just sitting in my basement waiting for their re- purpose assignment.

First: Cut box using the fold lines as your guide.
Second: Measure, so you''ll now how much fabric you'll need.
Third: I ended up taping a couple pieces of cardboard together for a bit more dimension
Fourth: Cut out fabric and iron. Don's skip the iron step.
Fifth: Fold the fabric around the cardboard and staple it down. I just used a normal stapler.
Sixth: Hang up with Command Strips. (kind of a crooked picture, but you get the idea.)
I purchased the fabric from My Girlfriends Quilt Shop.

Something of Pinterest

I actually put my pinterest board to work, and hung up a collage of photos in my entry way.

I also hung up this world map above my entertainment center.
Mason got me this map for Christmas, and I'm in love with it... I mean I'm in love with him.
Mom, thanks for all your help and expertise in hanging these. Yes, I did have to have my mommy's help. What's it to you?

Mustard

Mustard makes for a cute skirt, stylish tights, a splash of warmth in home decor and, as always, a sandwich spread. Pass the mustard please.

Wanting...

Dear Santa,
Would this not look so adorable above my entertainment center? You know it, it's right by the fireplace. I don't think I have to remind you of what a very good girl I've been this year..

The Study

I know I know more about my house. How annoying. If you haven’t noticed I am giving the world’s slowest home tour on this blog. Here is the office. The funny thing is, this room is one in which we put the least amount of thought into and it surprisingly feels the most complete.
The pictures above the desk (which my sister took of Mason’s bike, I have always thought they add a contemporary flare while serving a sentimental value.) use to go above my entertainment center in the living room, which is also where I stole the black chairs. And yes it is precisely why I have not revealed the living room to you. The window in the office is in the front of our home, providing wonderful light, and if you drive by you may see me plucking my eyebrows in the office… What? I told you…. Great lighting…
As we have settled into our new home I realize more than ever that it will be one continuous work in progress, one which takes time and money. Mason has been figuring out the important stuff such as sprinklers, drip lines, direct tv and our home security arkadelphia system, while I have been parading through catalogs dreaming and not doing a darn thing about it. So yes my pace is slow but my next big project is the entry way, can’t wait to show you.

Patio Makeover

No, I don't have a patio set just yet, but I did a bit of a face list until then, with few cans of spray paint my backyard is looking a little more welcoming.
These black chairs were in my office at the old house...
After I completed the blue chairs, I thought now where am I going to put my lemonade? The little table, which once was tan and in our spare bedroom came to the rescue.
Which then, prompted a quick spray of yellow on the flower pot.
Ate on our back patio just last night, and the night before that, and the night before that....

Her Room

I’m slowly decorating and organizing our new place. I started with Milly’s room first, because I’m one of those wonderful mom’s that always puts her children before herself, or maybe it was because the color of her room was a dark, dark maroon, and didn’t exactly go with her current bedroom set. Either way I still come out smelling like a rose, Right?

I went with the same green I did in her old room, because I just love it. The bead board was already there, and I think it adds a nice touch. It’s not quite complete just yet. I still need something to put right over the crib, but for now this is where our little beauty snoozes.

A Good Move

Most of you know we’re in our new home. We’re still in Cache Valley or “God’s Country,” as Mason calls it. We’re a short 10 minutes away from where we use to live. It’s one of those happy moves in where we purchased a new home and didn’t have to lose any friends. It all happened really quickly you’ll have to ask Mason to tell you the whole story, it’s a good one, trust me. I’m slowly decorating and organizing our new place. I'll get you pictures of what I've finished so far, but I've spent more time browsing through Pottery Barn catalogs than I have actually decorating. This will be the next big purchase on my list. I have a perfect little place for it in my kitchen.
Pottery Barn makes me swoon.

Back Patio Wishlist

The Mr. and I are moving. All day long I decorate our new space in my cluttered mind. I'm wanting to make our back patio a charming little oasis. This set is currently making my wish list. The idea of a vintage chic patio appeals to me as it is so different from all my other in-home decor. I can't wait for backyard barbeque's!
