More Thoughts On Motherhood

Motherhood with all it’s charm has shed light on so many things I once could have never understood, the least of them being that nipples have about one thousand holes and assimilate more of a shower head than a bottle ever could or would.
I was lucky enough to take three months off of work after I had my daughter and I now get that stupid stereotypical saying “A woman’s work is never done.” If you are a full time mom you know what I mean. You literally work 24/7. Your days do not begin and end. Your life is lived in three hour increments. You do not get weekends, sick days, or vacation days… you are a mom. You go with no pay and everyone thinks that smile from your child should replace that paycheck you once had… well sometimes just sometimes you want to say just give the damn check because I haven’t seen the inside of a Nordstrom since I was living on my Daddy’s money… which was WAY to long ago.
Now that I’m back at work I realize what all of you working moms have been talking about. The nagging guilt that almost physically makes you ill when you have to think about what you missed that day. The jealously you feel toward your own daycare provider, as it seems they are spending more time with your child than you are. All of this makes me think another age old saying. “You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.”
All in all it’s been a good experience and I feel I can honestly say I’ve been on both sides of the fence and have deep appreciation for parenthood and motherhood no matter how you choose to raise your family.

  2. So perfectly put... I'm so grateful that I get to be home with my 3 babies and husband. The jealousy of the daycare provider is so true... I'm excited for all your new endeavors though...So awesome for you AND Milly!
